Lot 8 Boutique transformed into its own Project Runway stage on February 5, 2011 as it presented Houston with the newest faces and local talents that the Houston fashion industry has to offer.
From beautifully crafted handbags and clutches to breathtaking hand-painted earrings, Chloe Dao and the Lot 8 family tapped into one of Houston's most valuable resources outside of the oil industry; it's the creative talent and inspirations of Houston's local fashion designers and Dao is graciously displaying their works of art at her famous boutique in Rice Village.
The use of the word "breathtaking" is truly an understatement as guests were invited to not only meet the emerging designers, but were able to read stories of their artistic inspirations that were displayed alongside their creations.
Take the story of emerging designer and New Orleans native, LaToya "Journey" Allen. Her "journey" from New Orleans to Houston in the wake of Hurricane Katrina is one of the many inspirations for her hand-crafted jewelry. Taking pride in the fact that she never creates the same pair of hand-painted earrings twice, LaToya Allen or "journey" as she likes to be called, promises to be one of Houston's most talented in the fashion industry.
Just two steps to the right of LaToya stood emerging designer, Simran Rihal, whose custom designed clutches mirrored those that Hollywood's most elite would carry onto the red carpet. Rihal, as creative director and owner for Elan Couture, has an undeniable knack for sophistication and style and most importantly for attention to detail. The collection of clutches from the Elan Couture brand are eye-catching and powerfully stopped several guests dead in their tracks. With only two clutches remaining at the end of the evening, it's safe to say that Rihal is on her way to the top of Houston's fashion circle.

From the sultry and "Old Hollywood" creations of Chase Christian to the bold and funky styles of the Ukranian-inspired Balushka brand, Houston has so much in store in the way of local talent. Pair these looks with a statement piece by emerging designer, Sandra Martin and a handbag by Houston native, Jennifer Rowland, and you have delightfully experienced some of Houston's greatest treasures in the world of fashion.
