About The Artist

'Radio Killer!'
LaToya "journey" Allen partners with Project Row Houses as a visual artist/ teen mentor who creates and facilitates various activities for middle school and high school aged children throughout Houston's Historical Third Ward Community. While journey considers herself to be a God inspired artist who discovered her ability to replicate her favorite cartoon characters at the early age of nine, she pays homage to professors Leamon L. Green, Alvia J. Wardlaw, Sara A. Trotty and Jesse Sifuentes for helping her to nurture and further develop her gift while studying under their direction at Texas Southern University.

"journey" was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. During the wake of hurricane Katrina in August of 2005 the artist made the tough decision to leave New Orleans, LA to begin a new life in Houston, TX where she currently resides. "journey" is the proud mother of two boys, Gerrick and Dujuan, who she enjoys spending time with as they walk hand in hand exploring life through the eyes of creativity. While her hand-painted jewelry pieces are her primary focus, journey also specializes in the creation decorative compositions and large mural works.

Designs by Journey Product Information
These wearable works of art begin as blank wooden canvases that are painted with an acrylic medium. Compositions on the front of the jewelry are complemented by a conversation of colors that is expressively placed on the back of each piece. Once the paintings are complete bead work is added and pieces are signed in a bright shade of blue with the artist’s trademark signature. Each precious work of art is named accordingly and the patron receives a certificate of authenticity with each purchase.
Care Instructions
Packaging can be used as storage at the patron's discretion. Do not store in temperatures that exceed 80 degrees F. To avoid displacement of stones, breaking of hooks, distortion of images or additional damages do not store with other accessories. Although each piece is sealed with a water proof gloss finish, they should not be submerged in water. Be cautious when wearing pieces in rare weather conditions such as high winds and heavy rain. Over handling the painted portion of the pieces by hand will soil and eventually distort the image. When wearing body fragrances remain careful not to spray them directly onto the pieces. To aid in the prevention of losing pieces, secure ear pieces with backings provided and fasten all pins and clasps on necklaces and brooches. In the unfortunate event that pieces are damaged it is best to contact artist for examination and repairs.
